If God Is Here With Me

If God is here with me,
then why is he silent,
and why does he stand by,
just watching the violence?

If God is here with me,
then why all the grief,
he promised a peace,
but there’s no relief.

If God is here with me,
why isn’t He healing,
I’ve clung to his garment,
my weakness revealing.

If God is here with me,
why is terror so great,
life hypervigiliant,
seems to be my fate.

If God is here with me,
why not ease the aching,
I’ve prayed all the prayers,
it’s His for the taking.

So tired of the battle,
I’m growing so weary,
why won’t He just hold me…
if God is here with me.
